You know a bit rambly. But one of my favorite topics in archaeology, and what got me into archaeology topics in general, is the Old Copper Complex.
And right now Imua and crew are right in that area where those ancient copper workers thrived.
One of the most interesting things to me about the OCC is the transition of copper away from being a metal used for tools and more as a tool for artwork, jewelry, etc. in a context of increasing trade networks and social stratification. Leading to copper being abandoned for other materials with regards for tools. Though of course by the time of the Mississippian culture and Cahokia, that copper working had hit a beautiful xenith of complexity.
So while the Bades could be an old copper complex style of culture, making most everything out of local copper resources, I thought it more interesting that they would reserve it for decoration. Considering giant fishbones, crayfish shells, and easily makeable manachert are all available and also make quality tools.
Still very able copperworkers, but they just don't see copper as a tool material, but more a metal for jewelry and decoration.
anywho bit of an aside, I still need a catchy one liner for the comic description uh..
um
